Whitey Ford

Edward Charles “Whitey” Ford was born on October 21, 1928 in New York. He would grow up to become one of the most dominant pitchers in the majors and the ace of the New York Yankees. Ford spent all 18 years of his career with the Yankees, with whom he would win several championships. In fact, “Whitey” won so many championships that he holds the record (to this day) for most titles for a pitcher, with 10. He was the game one starter in nine of those championship runs and was the staff ace in the 10th as well, but was held back until game three due to a new strategy being implemented by manager Casey Stengal. Ford made an astounding 22 World Series game starts, with 10 wins and 8 losses. He holds the record for all three of those stats as well.
